THE PROBLEM

Agriculture is responsible for 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with chemical fertilizer companies being the main responsible in this regard. The reason is that nitrogenous chemicals are responsible for the emission of nitrous oxide (N2O), a greenhouse gas 298 times more powerful than CO2.

Furthermore, the use of chemicals in agriculture also generates other negative impacts, such as the loss of both soil fertility and the natural immunity of the crops themselves.

THE SOLUTION

Nostoc Biotech is a company dedicated to the manufacture and commercialization of ecological products for agriculture and gardening.

Its objective is to transform conventional agriculture, overloaded with chemicals, into a more sustainable activity, offering fertilization and protection solutions based on earthworm humus and a range of microbiological products derived from it.

THE TEAM

Enrique Cat and Guillermo Herrero are entrepreneurs by nature, and had already created several companies before founding Nostoc Biotech. In the case of Enrique Cat, with only 27 years old, he had already created two other companies, while in the case of Guillermo, there were seven, the last two referents in the field of organic farming.

Guillermo and Enrique met as a result of a waste management project with worms that they developed together. In the end the project was not carried out, but they realized that they formed a great team and that they had the same common vision on agriculture. This was the beginning of Nostoc, which finally saw the light of day in September 2014.

“We want to transform traditional agriculture into a more sustainable, efficient and chemical-free activity. "
